How much should I expect my cake to cost?
Great question! There is a minimum spend of $349 which is for a standard 6” red velvet cake, yielding 12 dessert slices. Prices increase from here based on size, flavour selected, and design elements.

Each cake is lovingly baked from scratch for your special occasion, so the final price is determined by the flavour(s) selected, size of the cake required, the addition of optional custom cake topper, and delivery location
A comprehensive list of starting prices based on flavour can be found on the “Cake Flavours List” page. All cake prices include buttercream coating and simple, piped buttercream decorations on the crown of the cake (does not include palette knife painting and other intricate textural or finely piped decorations. You may request these for an additional fee).

What is the best way to book a cake with you?
To get your cake situation swiftly sorted:
Email sunsetcakery@gmail.com or fill out this contact form with all the delicious details of your event, namely date, time, location, number of guests, and flavour selection. Please note that we no longer create custom cake designs, and welcome you to select from the themes provided.
I’ll touch base within 2 business days to discuss your cake request, and issue a quote. To secure your booking, a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required within 7 days, with full payment required 4 weeks before your event. For orders made with less than a month’s notice, or to a value of $450 or less, full payment is required to secure your booking.
Once payment is received, I’ll send you a cake confirmation email, and your delicious cake is secured!
How much notice do you need?
In an ideal world, I’d love to whip up cake for you on the fly! But, in reality - Cakes are booked on a first come, first serve basis.
For those of you who are dead set on a Sunset cake, I’d strongly recommend shooting me an email as soon as you’ve locked in your event date to arrange a 50% cake deposit, which will secure your booking in our schedule and avoid any disappointment. As a guide, peak season runs from September - mid December, and late January - April, and we tend to book out 6 - 9 months in advance . Please keep this in mind when planning your special occasion, and remember to snap up your favourites as early as humanly possible to avoid heartache!!
Single and 2 tier cakes require at least 3 week’s notice and are subject to availability.
Please note that I do not take bookings more than 12 months in advance, thank you for your understanding.

Are all of your cakes buttercream?
Big YES to buttercream! At Sunset Cakery, the majority of cakes are coated in organic Swiss meringue buttercream and contain a variety of scrumptious fillings (specific details found in the Cake Flavours List). In the Signature Range, in-house blends of French couverture Valrhona white chocolate ganache are used as a filling component in select cake flavours.
Please note, I am dedicated to delivering you maximally delicious cakes, so do not use fondant in my bakery at all, as it’s unappetisingly sweet. If fondant is your jam, however, I’d be happy to refer you to some great fondant cake decorators.
Do you offer cake stand hire and custom cake toppers?
Yes, these are available for hire and start at $40 a stand. Each stand requires a security deposit which is refunded once it is washed and safely returned within 2 days. Deposit fees range from $80 to $250, depending on the stand selected.
I am happy to arrange a custom cake topper for you and include this in your quote, just send me the details on the wording and the finish (gold, silver, glitter, wood etc) you are after. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to source one independently
Can I have fresh flowers on my cake?
Definitely, all cake flavours come with the option of adding either fresh seasonal display (non-edible) or seasonal organic edible flowers to your cake. Alternatively, I’d be happy to work with your event florist and have them supply the florals for your cake prior to the event
Can you make an allergen-free cake?
Sadly, my little Sunset Cakery kitchen currently can’t accommodate the space required for allergen-free food preparation. All of our sweet treats are prepared in a space shared with gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, and other delightful ingredients.
Cancellations or Changes
Any amendments made to your order less than 14 business days before the scheduled delivery date will incur a redesign fee to cover loss of work and ingredients sourced for the original order.
Refunds cannot be issued for:
Single-tiered cakes cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled delivery date
Two+ tiered cakes cancelled within 2 months (60 days) of the scheduled delivery date
Orders cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled delivery date
No shows, extenuating circumstances reviewed on a case-by-case basis
